These Air Fryer Caramelized Bananas are a quick and simple dessert made with just two ingredients. The hot air fryer melts and caramelizes the sugar, creating a golden, slightly crisp coating while the bananas inside become soft, warm, and naturally sweet. Perfect on their own or served over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, or ice cream.
2 large bananas, cut into thick coin-sized slices
½ cup granulated sugar
Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (390°F). This usually takes about 5 minutes.
Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
Place the sugar in a small bowl. Roll each banana slice in the sugar until evenly coated.
Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
Cook for 8 minutes, or until the sugar melts and begins to caramelize.
Carefully remove from the air fryer and serve warm.
Flipping: For caramelization on both sides, you can flip the bananas halfway through cooking. However, they will be very soft, so flipping is optional.
Cutting style: Bananas can also be sliced lengthwise instead of into coins—no cooking time adjustment is needed.
Watch closely: Sugar can burn quickly, so keep an eye on the bananas during cooking.
Use parchment paper: This greatly reduces sticking and prevents a sticky mess in the basket.
