This Air Fryer Chicken Parmesan is a lighter and faster version of the classic comfort food. Using an air fryer means less oil, less mess, and a crispy result that still tastes rich and satisfying. It’s perfect for a quick lunch or an easy dinner the whole family will love.
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 8 oz each)
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
½ cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup marinara sauce
6 tbsp reduced-fat mozzarella cheese
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
Prepare three bowls:
Bowl 1: flour mixed with salt and pepper
Bowl 2: beaten eggs
Bowl 3: panko breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese
Coat each chicken breast in flour, dip into the egg, then press into the breadcrumb mixture.
Place the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd.
Air fry for 6 minutes per side, until golden and fully cooked (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C).
Warm the marinara sauce while the chicken cooks.
Top each chicken breast with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Return to the air fryer and cook for 2–3 more minutes, until the cheese melts.
Serve hot with pasta, vegetables, or a fresh salad.
Pound the chicken slightly for even cooking.
Spray the breaded chicken lightly with cooking spray for extra crispiness.
Don’t stack the chicken—air needs to circulate.
For extra flavor, add Italian seasoning or garlic powder to the breadcrumbs.
