These Air Fryer French Fries are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and made with far less oil than traditional deep-fried fries. They’re easy to prepare, ready in under 30 minutes, and perfect as a snack, side dish, or game-day treat. Once you try homemade fries in the air fryer, you may never go back to frozen ones!
2 large russet potatoes
1–2 tablespoons olive oil (or avocado oil)
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
Optional Seasonings
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Dried herbs (rosemary, oregano, or thyme)
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the potatoes (peeling is optional). Cut them into even-sized fries.
Soak (Optional but Recommended)
Place the cut potatoes in cold water for 20–30 minutes. This removes excess starch and helps make the fries crispier. Drain and pat completely dry.
Season
In a bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, and any optional seasonings until evenly coated.
Air Fry
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
Add the fries to the air fryer basket in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes, until golden and crispy.
Serve
Taste and add more salt if needed. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Cut fries evenly so they cook at the same rate.
Don’t overcrowd the basket—airflow is key.
Soaking and drying the potatoes makes a big difference in crispiness.
For extra crunch, spray lightly with oil halfway through cooking.
