Air Fryer French Fries: The Ultimate Guide to Crispy, Healthy, Homemade Fries

These Air Fryer French Fries are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and made with just a few basic ingredients. They’re a healthier and cleaner alternative to deep-fried fries, with all the crunch you love and none of the messy oil. Perfect as a snack, side dish, or game-day treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb russet potatoes (2 large or 3 medium)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)

  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper

  • ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ⅛ teaspoon paprika

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Scrub and clean the potatoes. Cut them into even ¼-inch thick strips.

  • Rinse the cut potatoes in cold water, then pat completely dry with a clean towel.

  • Place the fries in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly.

  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika over the fries. Toss again.

  • Transfer fries to the air fryer basket in a single layer.

  • Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 10 minutes.

  • Shake or toss the fries, then cook for another 6–10 minutes, until golden and crispy.

  • Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Dry the potatoes well: This helps the fries get extra crispy.

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket: Cook in batches if needed for even cooking.

  • Soak ahead: You can cut the fries and store them submerged in cold water in the fridge. Dry well before cooking.

  • Reheating: Reheat leftovers directly in the air fryer for the best texture.
