Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Hot Dogs: The Ultimate Cheesy Comfort Food You’ll Make on Repeat

These Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Hot Dogs are a fun, kid-approved meal that’s super budget-friendly and ready in under 5 minutes. Crispy on the outside, melty on the inside, and packed with cheesy goodness, they’re perfect for a quick lunch, snack, or easy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 slice bread

  • 2 teaspoons mayonnaise (or butter)

  • 1 slice cheese

  • 1 beef frank (hot dog)

Instructions

  1. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise (or butter) on one side of the bread. Place the cheese slice on the opposite side.

  2. Lay the hot dog on top of the cheese and gently roll the bread around it, wrapping snugly.

  3. Secure the wrapped bread to the hot dog using 2 toothpicks (sometimes 3 if needed), one at each end.

  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) if required by your model.

  5. Carefully place the wrapped hot dog into the air fryer basket, leaving space between each one.

  6. Air fry for 3–4 minutes, until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted. Add 1-minute increments if needed.

  7. Remove carefully, take out the toothpicks, and serve immediately with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • White or sandwich bread rolls more easily than thick or crusty bread.

  • Mayonnaise creates a crispier, more evenly browned exterior than butter.

  • Avoid overcrowding the basket so the bread crisps instead of steaming.

  • Try different cheeses like cheddar, American, or mozzarella for variety.
