Air Fryer Potato Cubes: The Ultimate Guide to Crispy, Flavorful, and Healthy Potatoes at Home

These Air Fryer Potato Cubes are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and ready in under 30 minutes. They give you all the flavor and crunch of fried potatoes using very little oil, making them a lighter and healthier side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium potatoes (russet, Yukon gold, or red), diced (about 4 cups)

  • ½ teaspoon oil (olive, canola, or avocado oil)

  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (205°C) if needed (about 5 minutes).

  2. Scrub the potatoes clean and dry them well. Peeling is optional.

  3. Dice the potatoes into ¾ to 1-inch cubes.

  4. In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with oil, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder until evenly coated.

  5. Spread the potatoes in the air fryer basket or tray in an even layer. Slight overlap is fine, but avoid overcrowding.

  6. Air fry for 10 minutes, then shake the basket to turn the potatoes.

  7. Return to the air fryer and cook for 8–12 more minutes, until golden and crispy.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy.

Note: If your air fryer uses trays instead of a basket, shaking is not required.

Notes

  • Dry potatoes well before seasoning to help them crisp up.

  • Cut evenly so all cubes cook at the same speed.

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket—cook in batches if needed.

  • Season after cooking for extra flavor (try parmesan, chili powder, or herbs).

  • Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–4 minutes (refrigerated) or about 15 minutes (frozen), shaking halfway.
