Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries: The Ultimate Guide to Crispy, Healthy, and Flavor-Packed Fries at Home

These Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. Perfectly seasoned and cooked in the air fryer, they’re an easy and healthier alternative to deep-fried fries and make a great side dish or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, washed and scrubbed

  • 1½ tablespoons oil

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  • Cut the sweet potatoes into ¼-inch-wide strips and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  • Add the oil and toss the fries until evenly coated.

  • Sprinkle in the onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss again to coat evenly.

  • Place the seasoned sweet potato fries into the air fryer basket in an even layer.

  • Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.

  • Continue cooking until the fries are crispy on the outside and tender inside. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fries.

  • Remove from the air fryer and serve hot with extra salt and your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Cut evenly to ensure consistent cooking.

  • Don’t overcrowd the basket—cook in batches if needed.

  • Shake halfway to help all sides crisp up evenly.

  • For extra crispiness, soak the cut fries in cold water for 20–30 minutes, then dry well before seasoning.
