Cherry Earl Grey Milk Tea

Cherry Earl Grey Milk Tea

Cherry Earl Grey Milk Tea is a cozy, aromatic drink that blends the bright citrus notes of Earl Grey tea with sweet cherries, creamy milk, and a gentle hint of vanilla. It’s comforting when served warm on chilly days and wonderfully refreshing over ice in the summer. Simple to make and naturally elegant, this drink feels like a café-style treat at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose-leaf Earl Grey tea)

  • 1 cup water (divided)

  • ½ cup milk (dairy, almond, oat, or any preferred milk)

  • 45 cherries, fresh, frozen, or canned (pitted and halved)

  • 12 teaspoons vanilla syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

  • Ice (optional, for iced version)

Instructions

  • Steep the Cherries and Cinnamon
In a small saucepan, add the cherries and ½ cup of water. Simmer gently over low heat for 3–5 minutes until the cherries soften and release their juices. Lightly mash the cherries with a spoon. Add the cinnamon stick (if using) and let it steep for another 5 minutes.

  • Brew the Earl Grey Tea
While the cherries simmer, bring the remaining ½ cup of water to a boil. Steep the Earl Grey tea for 3–5 minutes, depending on how strong you like it. Remove the tea bag or strain the leaves.

  • Warm the Milk
Add the milk to the saucepan with the cherry mixture. Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until the milk is warmed through. Do not boil.

  • Sweeten
Stir in the vanilla syrup, adjusting the amount to your preferred sweetness.

  • Combine and Serve
Pour the brewed Earl Grey tea into a cup. Strain the warm cherry milk mixture into the tea, pressing gently on the cherries to extract all their flavor. Stir well.

    • For an iced version, let the drink cool slightly, then pour over ice.

Notes

  • Cherry Choice: Fresh cherries give the brightest flavor, but frozen or canned cherries work perfectly year-round.

  • Milk Options: Oat milk adds natural sweetness, while whole milk makes the drink extra creamy.

  • Flavor Boost: Add a splash of cherry syrup or a drop of almond extract for a deeper cherry note.

  • Less Sweet: Skip the vanilla syrup and sweeten lightly with honey or maple syrup instead.
