These easy air fryer French fries are crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and made with very little oil. They’re a healthier alternative to deep-fried fries and come together quickly, making them perfect for a snack, side dish, or burger night at home.
1 lb russet potatoes (2 large or 3 medium)
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper (or to taste)
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
⅛ teaspoon paprika
Prep the Potatoes: Wash the potatoes well and peel if desired. Cut into even fries, about ¼–½ inch thick.
Season the Fries: Add the potatoes to a large bowl. Toss with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
Cook the Fries: Place fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Serve: Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces.
Cut evenly: Uniform fries cook at the same rate.
Don’t overcrowd: Cook in batches if needed for best crispiness.
Soak for bonus crunch: Soak cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes, then dry thoroughly before seasoning.
Season after cooking: Add extra salt right after cooking for maximum flavor.
