This Easy Goulash Recipe is a hearty, cozy, one-pan dinner made with ground beef, tender macaroni, and a rich tomato-based sauce. It’s the kind of simple, satisfying comfort food that feeds a crowd, reheats well, and is perfect for busy weeknights or casual family dinners.
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 cup onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
2 lbs lean ground beef
3 tsp garlic, minced
2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
2 (15 oz) cans petite diced tomatoes
3 cups beef broth
3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp seasoned salt
2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
3 bay leaves
2 cups uncooked macaroni noodles
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Brown the Beef
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and ground beef. Cook until the beef is no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks.
Drain excess fat and return the pot to the stove.
Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
Build the Goulash
Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and uncooked macaroni noodles. Stir well.
Simmer
Bring to a boil, then reduce to a gentle boil. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
Finish & Serve
Remove bay leaves and stir in shredded cheddar cheese just before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!
Use lean ground beef to keep the dish from becoming greasy.
Stir occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom.
Want it cheesier? Add extra shredded cheddar or mix in mozzarella.
For a veggie boost, add mushrooms or zucchini with the onions.
Leftovers taste even better the next day and keep well for 3–4 days in the fridge.
