Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1 tbsp canola oil (or any light oil)

  • 1 tbsp green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Honey Butter Sauce

  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

Cook the Chicken

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, garlic powder, cayenne, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

  2. Add the chicken pieces and toss until fully coated.

  3. Heat butter and oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat.

  4. Add the chicken in a single layer, shaking off extra flour.

  5. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crisp.

  6. Remove chicken from the pan and set aside.

Make the Honey Butter Sauce

  1. Reduce the heat to low.

  2. Add the remaining butter and melt it in the skillet.

  3. Stir in the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.

  4. Cook on low, stirring continuously, until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes glossy and smooth—like a light caramel.

  5. Add the chicken back in and toss to coat completely.

  6. Turn off the heat and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to thicken further.

Serve

Serve over white rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables.
Garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

  • Spread the chicken pieces apart while frying—the more space, the crispier they get.

  • For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.

  • Want it stickier? Let the sauce bubble for an extra 1–2 minutes.
