The Ultimate Guide to Making the Crispiest Air Fryer Gnocchi: A 15-Minute Culinary Revolution

Make the ultimate crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside gnocchi in just 15 minutes using your air fryer! Perfect as a quick appetizer, snack, or side dish. Works with frozen, refrigerated, or shelf-stable gnocchi — potato, sweet potato, or cauliflower.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb gnocchi (frozen, refrigerated, or shelf-stable; potato, sweet potato, or cauliflower)

  • 12 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 23 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan

Instructions

  • Preheat the Air Fryer
Set to 390°F (200°C) and lightly spray the basket with olive oil.

  • Season the Gnocchi
In a large bowl, toss the gnocchi with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Parmesan.

    • Note: Do not thaw frozen gnocchi; air fry straight from the freezer.

  • Air Fry
Place gnocchi in the basket in a single layer (avoid overlapping).

    • Shelf-Stable & Refrigerated: Air fry 11–14 minutes, shaking every 4–5 minutes.

    • Frozen: Air fry 14–15 minutes, shaking halfway through.

  • Check for Crispiness
Gnocchi is done when golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy inside.

  • Serve Immediately
Sprinkle extra Parmesan or fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Single layer: Overcrowding makes them soggy.

  • Shake the basket: Ensures even crisping on all sides.

  • Add flavor: Toss with chili flakes, Italian herbs, or garlic butter after air frying.

  • Serve hot: Crispy gnocchi loses crunch if it sits too long.
